In un edificio costruito una ventina d’anni fa vicino al Naviglio Grande, caratterizzato da ampie terrazze verdi,
lo studio Calvi Brambilla and Partners sceglie un linguaggio fatto di riflessi, luce e colore per riconfigurare l’appartamento
di una giovane coppia. L’ingresso scenografico è una stanza rivestita in acciaio con una scritta luminosa che, nella penombra, diffonde bagliori cangianti e una certa aria di mistero.
La luce naturale inonda, invece, il grande living mettendo in risalto i colori saturi — per lo più blu intenso e rosso amaranto — di arredi e pareti, in un’alternanza continua di superfici opache e lucide.

In a building constructed about twenty years ago near the Naviglio Grande, characterized by spacious green terraces, the studio Calvi Brambilla and Partners chooses a language of reflections, light, and color to reconfigure the apartment
of a young couple. The dramatic entrance is a room clad in steel with a luminous sign that, in the dim light, diffuses changing glows and a certain air of mystery. Natural light floods the large living area, highlighting the saturated colors — mostly deep blue and amaranth red — of furniture and walls, in a continuous alternation of matte and glossy surfaces.

Nel salotto troviamo un elemento che fa da perimetro al divano modulare e aggiunto un controsoffitto, quasi un segno scultoreo, per trasformare il soggiorno nel cuore della residenza. A definirlo, armadiature in acciaio e pareti vetrate scorrevoli che aprono e chiudono i diversi ambienti: dalla cucina con banquette per la colazione alla
piccola sala da pranzo, fino all’home office.
La necessità di collegare i due appartamenti preesistenti, per ottenere una casa più importante, ha generato un layout irregolare. La luce naturale proviene infatti solo dalla lunga terrazza che occupa un lato della residenza. La vera sfida è stata quindi quella di convogliare i raggi del sole anche negli ambienti più interni. Da qui la scelta di materiali riflettenti, come il pavimento lucido, l’acciaio e il vetro cannettato, che hanno permesso di ottenere atmosfere sempre diverse nell’arco della giornata.

In the living room, we find an element that acts as a perimeter to the modular sofa, and a suspended ceiling, almost a sculptural sign, to transform the living room into the heart of the residence. Defining it are steel cabinets and sliding glass walls that open and close the different spaces: from the kitchen with a breakfast nook to the
small dining area, to the home office.
The need to connect the two pre-existing apartments, to create a more significant home, has generated an unusual irregular layout. Natural light comes only from the long terrace that occupies one side of the residence. The real challenge was therefore to channel sunlight into the most internal spaces. Hence the choice of reflective materials, such as glossy flooring, steel, and patterned glass, which have allowed for constantly changing atmospheres throughout the day.

Effetti suggestivi e scenografici giochi d’ombra mettono in risalto vetri da collezione, pezzi di design e opere d’arte contemporanea che spiccano sulle pareti in una studiata armonia fatta anche di contrasti. “In questo caso, nonostante ci troviamo in zona Navigli, abbiamo voluto puntare su un linguaggio moderno, senza riferimenti alla vecchia Milano. Anche se l’uso ricorrente del blu e dell’acciaio, insieme all’effetto del salotto centrale ribassato, rimandano alle atmosfere degli Anni 70 e ad alcuni interni disegnati da Cini Boeri, qui appena accennati e reinterpretati. Con un occhio al passato, ripreso sempre in maniera divertita e mai nostalgica”.

Evocative effects and dramatic shadow play highlight collectible glass, designer pieces, and contemporary artworks that stand out on the walls in a studied harmony of contrasts. "In this case, despite being in the Navigli area, we wanted to focus on a modern language, without references to old Milan. Although the recurring use of blue and steel, together with the effect of the lowered central living room, evoke the atmospheres of the 1970s and some interiors designed by Cini Boeri, here just hinted at and reinterpreted. With an eye to the past, always taken up in a playful and never nostalgic way."
