A due passi da piazza Cadorna, il progetto d’interni di Fabio Calvi e Paolo Brambilla, seguito in prima persona dalla neo-associata Marisa Rotolo, aggiorna al contemporaneo un appartamento del 1912.
A dare personalità al pied-à-terre le scelte stilistiche del trio che remixa stucchi e intarsi miracolosamente ben conservati con arredi sartoriali e le forme organiche del design degli Anni 70 e di oggi. Tutti declinati nei toni del bianco, dal panna ai neutri ancora più tenui. Un total white che ammorbidisce i tratti bold degli arredi, sottolineandone solo le curve sinuose. 

Just steps from Piazza Cadorna, the interior design project by Fabio Calvi and Paolo Brambilla, personally followed by the newly associated Marisa Rotolo, brings a 1912 apartment into the contemporary realm.
To give personality to the pied-à-terre, the stylistic choices of the trio remix miraculously well-preserved stuccoes and inlays with tailored furnishings and the organic forms of 1970s and today's design. All are declined in shades of white, from cream to even softer neutrals. A total white that softens the bold features of the furnishings, emphasizing only their sinuous curves.

Il primo passo è stato restaurare gli elementi originali, per poi intervenire con un’interpretazione decisamente orientata al presente. Il risultato è l’armonia d’insieme di una casa curata in ogni dettaglio. Gli interni sono naturalmente luminosi, i soffitti alti danno respiro. Il lavoro principale è stato sulle rifrazioni e la leggerezza con specchi, trasparenze, nuances di toni neutri mosse dal gioco di texture dei materiali: lucidi, opachi, ruvidi, levigati.
A contrasto, le boiserie delle camere sono più solide e materiche, in laccato e tessuto di ciniglia, e integrano la testata del letto.

The first step was to restore the original elements, then intervene with an interpretation decidedly oriented towards the present. The result is the overall harmony of a house cared for in every detail. The interiors are naturally bright, the high ceilings give breath. The main work was on reflections and lightness with mirrors, transparencies, nuances of neutral tones animated by the play of textures of materials: glossy, matte, rough, polished.
In contrast, the boiserie in the bedrooms is more solid and material, in lacquer and chenille fabric, and integrates with the bed headboard.

I mobili nell’appartamento sono pochi e selezionatissimi, equamente divisi tra questo millenio e il precedente, in un ponte che lega il Cinquanta di Viganò e dei Castiglioni, il Settanta di Paulin e Takahama, le novità dei contemporanei, Urquiola in testa. Tra gli emergenti vince il Nord Europa, ad esempio con gli scandinavi Wagell e Rybakken, l’olandese Aldo Bakker, la tedesca Alexa Lixfeld.
I quadri invece provengono tutti dalla galleria Francesca Minini. Tra le mura domestiche spiccano le tele biomorfe del pittore americano Landon Metz e i collage astratti del tedesco Matthias Bitzer.


The furniture in the apartment is few and very select, evenly divided between this millennium and the previous one, in a bridge that connects the 1950s of Viganò and Castiglioni, the 1970s of Paulin and Takahama, the novelties of contemporaries, with Urquiola in the lead. Among the emerging talents, Northern Europe prevails, for example, with Scandinavians like Wagell and Rybakken, the Dutch Aldo Bakker, the German Alexa Lixfeld.
The paintings, on the other hand, all come from the Francesca Minini gallery. Among the domestic walls stand out the biomorphic canvases of American painter Landon Metz and the abstract collages of German Matthias Bitzer.

L’appartamento rappresenta un’istantanea della città cosmopolita, che non perde l’eleganza della sua storia. Lo stesso spirito dello studio Calvi Brambilla and Partners, con le radici nel Novecento e quella curiosità di guardare cosa c’è dopo, di osare nuovi accordi in una sinfonia perfetta e inappuntabile.

The apartment represents a snapshot of the cosmopolitan city, which does not lose the elegance of its history. The same spirit of the studio Calvi Brambilla and Partners, with roots in the 20th century and that curiosity to see what comes next, to dare new harmonies in a perfect and flawless symphony.
